Mamamia is a family-run hotel in Dhibba Para, on the lane that climbs towards Amar Sagar Pol. The fort is four hundred metres up the hill: close enough that the wall closes off the end of the street, and close enough to walk back down for a nap in the afternoon.
Downstairs there are rooms cut into golden sandstone with carved alcoves to sit in. Upstairs there is a roof with chairs on it. That is where most people end up.

Four ways to stay
Rates are per night with tax included. The deluxe rooms are the ones with the carved sandstone alcove; the AC rooms are plainer, cooler and cheaper.

Rooftop café with a fort view
The terrace runs the full width of the building and faces Jaisalmer Fort head on.
In the last hour before sunset the sandstone turns from yellow to orange to a kind of burnt pink. Then the floodlights come on, and the wall glows gold against the dark.
Breakfast, coffee, cold drinks and dinner are all served up here, for guests and non‑guests alike.

What time can I check in?
From 12:00. Reception takes arrivals until 23:00; if your train gets in later than that, message ahead and someone will wait up. Check out is by 11:00.
Is there parking?
Yes, free, on the lane outside. It is tight but it works, and the fort parking is a minute further up if you are in something large.
Can you pick us up from the station?
Yes. We can arrange a pickup from the station or the airport. Send the train or flight number when you book.
Do you take pets?
Yes. Say so when you book so we put you in the right room.
Do I have to stay here to book a safari?
No. The safaris run for anyone, though guests get first call on the afternoon jeeps.
Is breakfast included?
No. The rooftop kitchen serves breakfast and it is charged separately.
